StarCut® Diode
The StarCut Diode is a new type of solid-state laser that is pumped
by pulsed laser diodes (qcw), and was developed as a design study
for the use of diode pumped beam sources in the area of fine cutting
and micro-structuring. The beam quality (TEM00 basic mode), power
ratings (15 W at 1 kHz), and pulse repeat rates (up to 3 kHz), are
comparable with those of the lamp pumped StarCut 18.
The use of diodes instead of flash lamps for pumping offers the
familiar advantages of this technology:
- High pulse-to-pulse stability (<1 %)
- Low water and electricity demand
- Long pumping-unit life-times
Adaptation of this beam source to various applications is presently
in the evaluation phase.
