MLBA technology cuts glass in one single operation
Developed by H2B Photonics GmbH, the patented MLBA technology allows the
laser radiation to be absorbed throughout the entire glass thickness -
in contrast to common methods. Most of the beam energy penetrates the glass
during the first operation and impinges an especially developed reflector
system. This system provides for multiple absorption which helps to transform
a major share of the radiation into heat energy. Starting at an initial
crack, the full glass body is cut by thermally induced tension in one single
operation.
Separation in one single operation,
no mechanical breaking or selective cooling down necessary
Quality of the cut edge is comparable to
mechanically polished glass edges
Free of micro cracks or glass splinters
No cost and time-consuming finishing work
Thickness of up to 20 mm can be cut with
disc lasers
Cutting speeds above 10m/min possible
Lime-natron glasses have already been tested and are in practical use, borosilicate
glass in development stage
